rEStaRt - moving and encouraging

18.11.2017 | Report from the celebration weekend

Changes in surrounding conditions can lead to invention. This experience is oftentimes made by the church nowadays and currently also by the ESR (Protestant pupils work in the Rhineland) one of the oldest associations of the Rhenisch church.

Restart means here invention coming to life. Restart was also the slogan for one weekend of workshops and celebrations that took place on 11th and 12th of November in Solingen. “We have to bid farewell to three long-time employees and to one whole work area – this is one side” Nina Schönemeyer, representative of the chairwoman in the beginning. “At the same moment we welcome Elisabeth Subasic and Marei Schmoliner as consultants, who will strengthen and shape our extracurricular work in the future.”

Thus the debate on content, possibilities and limits of the “youth work in a colourful world” were on the agenda in the beginning of the weekend, when round about 80 members and friends of the Protestant pupils work in the Rhineland gather at Hackhauser Hof. Starting with a lecture by professor Silvia Hamacher (Catholic University of Applied Sciences, Aix-la-Chapelle) practical workshops facilitate by new and old consultants allowed to deepen the discussions around peacemakers and international teams. Dennis Fraters (Schoolclash) gave a talk on study visits of pupils from the Netherlands in Berlin.

The church service in the Protestant church in Ohligs on Sunday gave space to the inauguration of Elisabeth Subasic und Marei Schmoliner as well as the demise of Manuela Postl, Claudius Rück and Rainer Gertzen. These three were already dignified during Saturday evening with various contributions of speeches, images and music.
